My name is Sarah Switaj, and I am the Advanced Academics Coach at Alice West Fleet Elementary. Prior to stepping in the role as AAC in the 2021-2022 school year, I was a fifth-grade teacher in APS for five years at Henry Elementary and Fleet. Before making the move to Virginia, I was primarily a fourth grade teacher in Charlotte, North Carolina and Fort Mill, South Carolina for eight years. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Dayton in Ohio followed by a Master’s degree in Education from Winthrop University in South Carolina. I earned my Gifted Endorsement in 2013 and became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2018.

I am passionate about working with children and teachers, and helping to find creative and innovative ways to engage and inspire students through meaningful, relevant, and challenging learning opportunities.
