Open House – Meet & Greet Your Teacher
- Date: Thursday, August 21
- Time: 9:00–11:00 AM
- Parking: Street parking only. Walking, carpooling, or public transit is encouraged.
Activities:
- iPad & Charger Return: Students should return iPads and chargers at the Open House. If unable to attend, bring them on the first day of school.
- Sign up to be room parents
- Join the PTA and opt into PTA/room parent messages
- Get assistance with ParentVUE and ParentSquare
School Supplies
Bulk supplies have been purchased by the school. Families are asked to provide:
- 3 boxes of pencils
- 2 boxes of tissues
- 1 pair of corded headphones compatible with an iPad (no wireless headphones)
First Day of School
- K–5 Students: Monday, August 25
- Preschool Students: Tuesday, August 26
- Montessori (3-year-olds): Staggered start; details will be shared by the classroom teacher.
School Hours
- Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM – 3:50 PM
- Students should be in classrooms and ready to learn by 9:00 AM.
- Doors Open: 8:45 AM
- Early Release Days: 1:30 PM

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
Arrival: 8:45 AM
Dismissal: 3:50 PM
- Car Riders: Use drop-off/pick-up on S. Old Glebe Road (Door A1).
- Pickup numbers (Car Tags) required starting September 16
- Car Tags distributed by September 13 via backpack mail
- Bus Riders: Use the bus loop near Thomas Jefferson Middle School
- Walkers (PreK–5): Enter through Door 13
- Survey: Please complete the survey link sent via Parentsqaure to indicate your student’s arrival/dismissal method.
- Parents will not be allowed to drop students off in classrooms on the first day.
Parking
Limited street parking on S. Old Glebe Road. Please be respectful of the neighborhood and avoid blocking or turning around in apartment complexes.
Extended Day Program
- Drop-off and pick-up at Door A1.
- Parents must park and sign children in/out.
- Pickup begins at 4:05 PM.
School Attendance
Daily attendance is required.Students must be in classrooms by 9:00 AM to participate in the morning meeting.
Breakfast & Lunch
- Breakfast: $2.00
- Lunch: $3.25

Early Dismissal / Change in Dismissal
Please report changes to the front office by 2:00 PM. Appointments should be scheduled outside school hours when possible.
Back to School Night
- Date: Thursday, September 11
- Time: 6:30–8:00 PM
- More details will be shared after school begins.
School Communication
- Weekly updates via ParentSquare from teachers and the school
- Fleet Beat: School newsletter sent via ParentSquare every Friday
- Classroom newsletter sent on Friday or Monday
- Thursday Folder: Students will bring home classwork and graded materials each Thursday
Clinic Updates

- Prescription meds must include pharmacy label

Health Documentation:
New students must submit physical exam, TB screening, and immunization records before school starts. Missing documentation may prevent attendance.
Summer Farewell
We hope you had a wonderful summer filled with relaxation, family time, and reading bingo fun! We’re excited for the new school year and look forward to welcoming students, staff, and families back to Alice West Fleet. Enjoy the last few days of summer!
