In third grade, students learn about how animals adapt to their changing environment. They also learn about communities. We study local birds and learn about their habitat, diet, life cycle and adaptations. The children participate in bird watching, pretend to eat “food” using everyday items to represent different beak types. The students conduct research and build a paper mache model to accompany their report. Students also work in the school gardens, planting and tending to a variety of vegetables.
